Chrome powder tutorial: a successful mirror-effect manicure

Ready to adorn your hands with a stunning mirror effect? Here is the procedure for a zero-defect chrome manicure!

Prepare your hands

Start, as always, by preparing your hands and nails: shaping with manicure set, cuticle oil, hydration, etc. Do not neglect any step, the mirror-effect manicure demands impeccable nails! Once your treatment is finished, we recommend that you apply a cuticle protector. It’s a kind of peel-off polish, which you put on the edges of your nails and which is easily removed after the manicure is finished.

Varnish your nails

Apply a protective base coat, let dry then apply two coats of the varnish of your choice. Wait until it is perfectly dry then apply a specific base coat for effect powders.

Apply the chrome powder

Wait until the chrome powder base has dried a bit, but not completely.

THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST DELICIOUS TIME, BECAUSE IF YOU DON’T WAIT ENOUGH THE CHROME POWDER WILL PACKAGE, AND IF YOU WAIT TOO MUCH IT WILL NOT HOLD …

It takes a little experience, but you get the hang of it. Once the good state of drying has therefore been achieved, apply your chrome powder using a foam applicator (you can use an eye shadow applicator) in small circular movements.
You have to be delicate and not hesitate to use chrome powder regularly to obtain an intense mirror effect.

Also, the more you “work” the powder, the more intense the mirror effect will be. You can thus modulate the rendering of your manicure, from a glittery metallic effect, to a very marked mirror effect.

Finish your manicure

Finally, apply the effect powder top coat for maximum shine, let dry well then remove the cuticle protector. Take a few snaps for Instagram, and you’re good to go!
